I don't know what happened, but after that 'taking it easy' time, I broke a bunch of personal maxes when I got back to lifting heavy.

Jumping from 50lbs to 180lbs on the leg press feels pretty good.

I think that starting to trail run had something to do with it.

TIL that I needed to go faster on the treadmill for running portions, not slower. It was so much more bearable than trying to maintain a jog.

Treadmill cardio works now.

I did 2.5km with alternating runs and walks. Extra sprint and jog outside.

I finally went back into the gym after a break for new tattoo healing.

It feels nice. I'm wondering where 15kg from the ab/adductor machine went, but it's still nice to be back.

I'm going out on a walk in a minute so I can reach my step goal.

Started the treadmill a week ago. Turns out that it isn't so scary.

Tonight, the total run was 1.2mi/1.9km over 16 minutes, and 1mi/1.6km over 13 minutes.

Did a bunch of upper body with the kettle bell and even doing some full push-ups along with the knee push-ups. Don't think I've ever been this consistent with exercise, it's nice.

Squatober is a month-long squat challenge.

Strong start! Honestly felt easy, which makes me think I picked a good training max. Session RPE 🎃/5.

Yesterday I used my friends bench and did bicep curls between turns on a video game. Then we played with a ball outside. Today I'm doing pushups and working out with my kettle bell.

Progress!

I got the Asian squat!

Heels to the ground, baby!!

Also done running - 15 km tonight - and I'm figuring out what works for me is singing. With music. No, it does not sound very nice. Strangely, ingressive speaking helps me keep pace and breathe. The Finns might be onto something.

Did lots of easy work out videos on youtube today. Then I walked pretty far to the store and then road around on the bike I got at the store. Then walked some more.

Said 'screw it' and went to the gym. Schedule complications can be fought by SPITE. And determination. And... yeah.

Lifted heavy things. Went hard for 2 km on the elliptical.

The recent series of schedule complications have resulted in some pleasant alternative walks around the neighborhood forests. Spring flowers are blooming. The mosses have sprung out in verdant splendor from the persistent rains. New leaves are beginning to fill out the canopies and offer shade. The meandering paths are like a milder choose-your-own-adventure. Forgot what that felt like, it's been a while since those casual walks have happened.

Today was busy and I don't know if I'm going to want to go to the gym later tonight. Fatigue has been engaged.

But I don't feel good not exercising, so I put on a 41 minute youtube video and am going to do static floor stretches during that time.

Here's a thing that makes life difficult: Deadlines. Trying to keep up with gym schedules (especially running...) is NOT easy when you have multiple deadlines coming up. :')

Still got in a ~3km trail walk/run today. The goal is to start transitioning to trail running in preparation for a 5km run. If the 3km trail can be run straight through, signing up for a 5km run is... reasonable. It would be really cool to do that. I dunno if the legs will be ready by the end of the month, though.

I'm going to be generous and say ~1/3 of it actually involved running. Will work up to it.

Cardio on the elliptical machine again. I did...

Not 1...

Not 5...

But...

✨✨✨ 🎉 10 Kilometers!! 🎉 ✨✨✨

In ~52 minutes!

And a surprise bonus: I could do a toe-touch from standing with zero discomfort after that run. Apparently warming up the muscles does help with flexibility!

I am very proud of myself rn. :D Turns out it was a mental block more than a physical one!

The hardest thing was figuring out what works. ^^;

//confetti//

I formally confirmed that exercise-induced asthma was NOT the problem, and it's just poor lung conditioning.

Ran 0.5 km and took a break because weird left thigh cramps. Don't know what was going on there.

Went back at it for the rest of the 3 km (ish, the machine got confused and restarted so I lost some distance in there). Took water breaks but otherwise ran straight through. Probably did the recommended 25-30 mins of daily cardio for the first time ever.

This is an accomplishment after having to start at Level 0 in C25K, and then use the elliptical because leg strength and cardio are NOT in unison on this one. I can run! Woo!

//confetti//

(I also did some stretching and kettlebell exercises)

Minor victory: Did cardio via elliptical machines yesterday. Got 8 mins, thereabout?

Over four laps. Not sure if they're measuring in portions of miles or kilometers - no units on the machine. It's a mystery. The 'speed' was also baffling, I'm going to have a closer look at the numbers and try to run a search for answers later.

It's small but progress. Going to try again today.

The trick seems to be (1) being upset, and (2) stressed out playlist.

Went extra hard on my pushups yesterday! Did a lot and tried going lower than usual. My abs hurt really bad today.

I have repeatedly picked up and put down my kettlebell! I also stretched and attempted a pushup.

I went to SCA rapier practice over the weekend and I'm very Aware of the muscle groups that were worked.

Got approved for intermediate Lyra last night.

I was fucking around with elbow hangs in the down time between practices... The first time, I misjudged the placement and pinched my skin on the bar. Which turned into a massive bruise within minutes. There was some skin abrasion. It has a nice purple-blue ring around the edge, now.

The second times, on the other arm? Those feel great. I could do those all day.

The next day, though. Holy shit, my elbow. It's been ages since THAT much soreness has been concentrated into THAT small a space.

Today has involved a lot of elbow stretching. It helps with the soreness.
