I’ve been trying to do restorative yoga every day, so I feel you on that goal! My calves are so tight/short I can’t even sit in the floor with my legs straight and my back upright (either I need to bend my knees or lean my back diagonally away from my straight legs), so I’ve got a long way to go. How long do you usually find it takes you before you start noticing any flexibility gains?
Honestly haven't been able to keep a routine for long enough to see really noticeable results ^^; The current thought is that a lot of the hamstring tightness is actually/partially nerve tension, since that has been the LONGEST and HARDEST to see any change in, so nerve flossing is on the list to (hopefully) improve that.
Oddly, dynamic movement classes like pilates helped more (and were more doable) than yoga - so at some point it would be nice to go back to those. :/
Oh - and never underestimate foam rolling. It hurts but it's a good hurt.
Interesting, that’s good to know. Now I wonder if I should check out Pilates, though with my currently very limited stamina I’m not sure if I could do the classes. But I’m always worried about my core because I have to wear medical compression binders from hips to ribs all day, and I know that results in a weaker core because the binders take some of the work that the muscles should be doing. So maybe the Pilates would be helpful in two ways!
