Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! I hope it is not as hot where you are as it is where I am! (Not Hell... :D )

Shiva Rea - Yoga Shakti - Lunar Flow

Should have recovered more yesterday and not attempted abs. Some people benefit from moving when they have DOMS. I just hurt more the next day.

Lunar Flow does have a really nice Shoulder Stand-Plow sequence and Chandra Namaskar, so got a little sweaty. And Shoulder Stand is a really good abs workout.

I just finished up a 65-minute strength and flexibility workout from Barbara Benagh's Power Yoga for Every Body. I really like this dvd. It's not very flashy or elegant, but it has a wide variety of routines for Beginner, Intermediate, and Challenging levels and gives a lot of bang for the buck.

Since it's so early, I'll probably have time later in the day for another short yoga or pilates workout, especially if I spend a lot of time at the computer and get that annoying lower back kink.*ouch*

Hi! Got up my courage to make an intro post. I'm Greenie to most people, so we'll stick with that. I'm 32 and have been mostly inactive for forever.

I'm working on keeping my mind on my goals and staying positive. One of the things I've done to do this is to add a bunch of pictures of fit women on flickr to my favorites. I look at them when I need motivation. I try to visualize myself as fit and healthy.

I'm interested in what you all do when you need motivation or if you're feeling less than positive.

I'm also quitting smoking! Which will probably make my metabolism slow down so exercising is really important.

cut for nutrition and weight loss stuff, plus anxiety! whee! )

So, I'm doing cardio every day, walking a mile 4 days a week, doing strengthening exercises 3-4 days a week. That is the plan, at least. I don't work so I have lots of time to exercise, as long as my body and mind are up to it.

Tell me how you stay motivated! Tell me how you stay positive! I really need to know. I am feeling positive and motivated right now, but I'm so worried that will change and I'll fall back into my bad habits.

TODAY: did 35 minutes of a pilates/yoga blend. couldn't do the last 5 minutes of it, but my goal is 30 minutes of cardio at the least a day, so I went over! \o/ I might do something this afternoon, too. If so, I'll edit this post.

I mowed the front yard and then started clearing brush (a never-ending process). My arms got all pumped up from the cutting and then the hauling. I feel like I've been lifting. May do some ab work later.

I tried the Healing Yoga DVD Green suggested, just now (37 min.) and it feels good! Lots of easy stretches and a little lunging, very relaxing. I have it on 24 hr rental and I'll do the routine again, tomorrow, and I may take notes and do it on my own, after that, see how that works--it isn't complicated, but timing matters, so I'll see. Thanks again for the rec! (But I really do need to get a nice, thick floor mat--floors are ow.)
