I just finished up a 65-minute strength and flexibility workout from Barbara Benagh's Power Yoga for Every Body. I really like this dvd. It's not very flashy or elegant, but it has a wide variety of routines for Beginner, Intermediate, and Challenging levels and gives a lot of bang for the buck.

Since it's so early, I'll probably have time later in the day for another short yoga or pilates workout, especially if I spend a lot of time at the computer and get that annoying lower back kink.*ouch*

My goals for the upcoming week are pretty much my regular weekly goals; I don't have any upcoming changes to my work schedule that would flip anything around.

Monday am: 35 minutes on elliptical machine, 5 minutes stretching and bending.

Tuesday am: 20 minutes on elliptical machine, 3 minutes stretching and bending
Tuesday pm: 108 Pushups

Wednesday: Same as Monday

Thursday am: An hour (at least) of Yoga before work - sets me up very nicely for the day!

Friday am: 20 minutes on elliptical machine, 3 minutes stretching and bending

Saturday (off and on throughout the day): 35 minutes on elliptical machine, 5 minutes stretching and bending, 108 Pushups or Pilates Intermediate Mat Workout.

Sunday am: Another nice long yoga session or, weather permitting (which it hasn't, in weeks) an hour-long walk in my local park.

This is the general framework I've been following for a couple years now, and it's working out very well for me. As we talked about the other day, I'm a morning person and really get a lot out of doing it first thing - if I wait until later, I can think of a zillion creative excuses not to do it. So Tuesday is really the only day that's endangered *g*. And I probably make a much bigger damn deal of missing a 25 minute routine than I really should.

I like how organized you are while keeping everything so varied. Maintaining a routine doesn't have to be boring! I think it would be good for me to develop a plan of this sort, too.

That's important for me, too--I even live across the street from a YMCA, but I never go. A routine that allows me to work out at home (or take a walk outside, which I love) is a routine I'm much more likely to stick to. Maybe one day, when I'm ready for greater challenges, I'll cross the street.

My eldest did gymnastics there, then coached, then interned, and my husband played noon pick-up basketball for years, but he's too busy, now, and she's moved away and I never got into the habit of going--it's a motivation thing, yeah, and issues about working out in front of other people. We'll stop our membership, too, as soon as I get around to it. It's not like we can't pick it up again if I decide I want access to their machines.
