Hey, EED!

I will eventually tackle making a special icon for our check-in posts and other posts I make in mod mode, but if there are icon-makers in the group who get to it before I do, contributions would be welcome!

If we get a whole bunch, maybe we can vote as a group on our favorite.

Love,
CK

I am going to listen to what my abs are telling me today and take a day off. Ow. This is a heads up to me, though, that I need to work them more. 10 minutes of toning shouldn't leave me in this state!

Exercise machines like treadmills, elliptical machines, and whatnot are very effective, but they can also be very...boring. So how do I keep myself motivated to get on that machine three times a week, month in and month out? With Dr. Who!

I'm a brand-new Who fan, captivated by lovely Matt Smith's captivating loveliness, but I know (who doesn't?) that there was much, much Whoness before him. So I've loaded up on dvd sets, Ninth and Tenth Doctors, and watch one episode each time it's elliptical day. This is the only time I watch these - no sneaking them upstairs to the home theater system. Ellipping time goes by like no time when I'm having so. much. fun! (Today was my first Captain Jack Harkness episode; I've been looking forward to it for ages and ages.)

What's your trick for making machine time go by?

Good morning!

Welcome to the Monday community update, summarizing the week of July 22 through July 25! Yes, not quite a week, but we're forming good habits here, yes? So Monday there will be a newsletter, whether the preceding week had seven days or not!

You will be excited to know that I believe that of everyone in our subscribership and membership that has introduced themselves, we all exercised at least once in the four days of this newsletter!

High days were the weekend, where seven people logged in on Saturday, and 9 on Sunday. I do not believe anyone logged in every day, though that could be due to oversight on my part.

It seems we have members coming to us from all fitness levels and fitness routines. A few are starting from almost the beginning and a few seem to have their schedules under control, and the rest of us are in between. I love the interactions the community has produced so far and I hope that people will find support and resolve here.

I am included the current draft of the community standards in every check-in post. In the next few days I will spruce up the profile page and tag the existing entries. Feel free to propose tags or request them as we go along.

And that's all RL permits me to do today. Here's to a great week of exercising together!

Love,
CK

UPDATE: Oh! And we have 13 Members/14 Subscribers as of today!

Had a rest day yesterday, so didn't post a check in. But the rest day was filled with shopping, so I did a little walking, I suppose.

Today was much more productive. I did some balance ball crunches - about 40 or so. I also managed my hula dancing (Island Girl videos aka Kili will kill your arms and knees) which is a 40 minute or so set. I was going to tackle the other cardio hula (aka 'uwehe and kawelu hell) I have but I am still babying this shoulder injury. I am so impatient with it at times. How long should it take to heal?? Of course it would affect the arm I use the most...I am right handed.

Even with the injury, I am noticing results! )

But today, I got nice and sweaty! Tomorrow I hope to incorporate both hula dances into my workout like I used to before the shoulder problem.

No working out, today, just some gentle stretching--I woke up totally flared. But I did make some progress, in that I finally called the PT department about a consult for my shoulder. If I can get this thing working, again, there will be a lot more I can do that will help me fitness-wise. Feel the fear and do it anyway! I will not let my fear of PT keep me from getting well and getting fitter.
