Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

This morning I did a pilates/yoga combo for 40 minutes. I feel amazing! Sweaty, but amazing! :D

Will probably do more cardio this afternoon. I have plenty of time and my body seems to be up to it. Plus, it's really fun. Am thinking of making an introduction post, but I'm nervous about it. lol anxiety.

Dude. That's serious endurance for someone who's just getting into exercising! \o/

I couldn't have done it earlier this week, but my body seems to be adjusting pretty quickly! :D

Did my standard morning yoga, then 2 hrs 15 minutes climbing (indoor bouldering), and some pull-ups -- the climbing wall has The Best Pull-Up Bar Evar, which is a metal scaffolding bar a good four metres long, over the crash-mats in the training area.

Didn't make it to three pull-ups this time (my arms were knackered), but I did some sets of two.

Currently I'm doing some finger/wrist stretches (while watching Avatar: The Last Airbender), to try to ensure that I don't wake up tomorrow with my hands aching. The meds I'm on tend to amplify any muscle aches or pains I have.

*blushes*

I used to be completely inactive, apart from walking and occasional bits of gentle yoga -- I pretty much avoided all sports with fear and loathing after school. Then I fell in love with climbing two years ago, and that changed everything.

(And then I spent most of the past year dealing with a massive neurological/psychiatric clusterfuck, which meant I ended up spending a lot of time in hospital with fuck all to do except yoga podcasts on my laptop. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as a fitness strategy, though *g*.)

So ... I'm doing a lot of things I never, ever imagined would be possible for me.

I just finished up with 35 minutes on the elliptical machine plus 5 minutes of stretching, forward and backward bends. Minimum goal for today achieved! Later on I'm hoping planning to do either 25 minutes of pilates or 25 minutes of Shiva Rea's Agni Namaskar aka 108 PUSHUPS OF DEATH.

This morning I did 20 minutes gently on my exercise bike - moving really did help me stop aching yesterday so that's good to know.
Then I did 20 minutes of yoga. I found a link in sun_salutation to Jason Crandell: Morning Sequence - it's the first of his that I've done and I really enjoyed it. The twisty arm thing in particular felt so good in my back.
I am about to do day one of the hundred press ups thing before bed - I started it once before but didn't stick with it, I am determined to do better this time.

\o/ I really love Jason Crandell's teaching. If you get into it, check out the Yoga Journal podcasts on iTunes (or on the Yoga Journal website -- he did twelve video podcast classes for them and they're wonderful.

I failed a bit due to my shoulder being on the mend.

So, in lieu of my regular exercise, I goofed off for a couple hours on Wii Fit and worked out the abs on the balance ball. I did about forty crunches there before my muscles started to yell at me.

I just want my shoulder to heal now. Going to try to do my regular hula exercise tomorrow, but I will have to see what happens when I wake up tomorrow.

Switching exercises to something else because you're injured isn't fail, it's extremely sensible! A couple of hours of exercise is serious stuff.

And owww abs. You are tougher than me. *g*

That's not fail, that's smart, to adapt your exercise plan as necessary. Good on you.

Reiterating what others have said: definitely not fail. You're doing really well for being injured.

You're smart to be careful with the shoulder--they're fragile when wounded.

I spent four hours visiting six different gardens with my daughter, today, which is about all the physical activity I can handle in a day. It was great fun, and I got wonderful ideas, and had a lovely long walk through the botanical gardens at the end. All of which means I won't be up for anything, tomorrow, but that was two days worth, for me, as sedentary as I am.

That sounds blissful, both in terms of the walking and the companionship with your daughter. When I first got into exercising seriously, my daughter was homeschooling, so we'd walk for half an hour five days a week, and we did that year-round for the four years of her high school. Great for both of us.
