Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

No, see, a set of twelve push-ups sounds pretty horrendous to me *g*.

... which is probably a sign that I need to suck it up and get the video, isn't it?

But I'm completely gobsmacked at the idea of that climbing you do. How can pushups be any harder than that? (says a woman who's never climbed).

You don't have to do all twelve.(She can't see you.) You do as many as you can do - it's yoga, after all. You do the best of it you can.

*g* Different muscles. And I suspect if I put a quarter of the effort I put into push-ups that I put into climbing, I'd be doing a lot better with them.

True -- that's very good advice.

Be careful, or I'll start giving you the sales pitch *g*.

(Actually, it's here.)

I like your sales pitch - that's a great post. Several years ago, there was a climbing gym in my area, and my oldest daughter climbed some, but alas, that is long gone (as is my daughter, all grown up *tear*).

And to be completely honest, I'm a cocooner - I used to belong to the Y, and did all my exercising there, but gradually we've set up our own equipment here: elliptical machine (aka MY PRECIOUS), rowing machine for him, yoga mat and lots and lots of dvd's for me. So the idea of actually getting in my car and going someplace to exercise (other than walking in my local park, five minutes away) is not something I'm likely to do. But I will keep it in mind! Maybe my kids will take up climbing again, and I can inveigle them to invite me.

That's my natural tendency too. Got my yoga mat, a bunch of dumbells and a kettlebell or three, walk in the local parks, occasionally walk to a very local gym to use their barbells, etc.

So the fact that climbing actually motivates me to travel across the city on public transport is a measure of how very much I love it *g*.
