Hi, everyone! I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now, but when I first joined I was sadly a) sick and b) doing physically demanding work for 5 days a week. a) has since greatly improved, b) will continue for another three weeks yet, but I do need to make sure I get some exercise in on the weekends.
I live near Atlanta, and it's still vicious hot out right now, but I'm trying to get back into my running/distance walking groove (and hoping I can stay there until next summer, when it will become too hot once again). Currently, I do a little triangle near my home; it's a mile total and on an incline, so first I run uphill (or try to; today, I didn't make it all the way up) for a third of a mile, then I run level for another third of a mile, and then I walk downhill to cool down. I'd like to move on to a longer route, or to doing multiple laps. Once it's a little cooler I hope to start doing proper hillwalks again too.
I've also inherited a set of weights from a friend who recently moved out of state, and I need to go find out how to use them properly. I also want to do something to work on my flexibility, because it used to be great and currently sucks. Other things I like doing, when I have the time and opportunity; swimming, tai chi, skating (ice or inline), cycling (I am the worst cyclist ever).
Meet my exercise buddy, Grendel:
( pic under cut )He is a good exercise buddy as he gets motivated more easily than me.
