Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Did some pushups to help warm and wake myself up when I got up at 5am, an almost unprecedented time for me to be awake (unless I had stayed up all night).

Over the weekend, exercise was largely had via dancing like a mad thing, since I went to two gigs.

I dislike it because it's almost always too cold for me! (I have a health problem when it comes to staying warm, namely, that I can't, even when medicated.)

Judging by how my legs feel, I ought to include 'going up and down stairs' in at least one update post, even though this is a consequence of hooking up Internet to my computer, not of actual intent to exercise. (My computer lives in the basement, where it is quite dark and, when the AC's running, quite loud, so I have not been using it, but now that it has Internet I'm up and down those stairs all the time.)

I did get some yoga in yesterday \o/ though it turned out to be a kind of yoga-demonstration and highly entertaining to family, housemates, and dog. This morning I did a bit of yoga here in the hotel just in case I don't get to do any tonight.

I was lying on the floor doing some warm up hip-openers and the poor little dog got all worried and starting licking my face! Very funny (except maybe to me, and the dog.)

Wheel? Jeez, no - I'm saving that to impress my daughter later in the week.

Well, all the traveling to and fro, as well as not feeling well part of the time this past week, cut into my dvd auditioning time *grin* so I decided to go with Good Ol' Rodney Yee. In 40 days I can perfect some of those balance poses, as well as the Wheel, and then be ready to move on.

Morning yoga. Then in the evening, 40 minutes of what started out as trying out barbell complexes using my little bodybar thing and ended up as freeform rocking out with a clubbell.

Somewhere in there, there were definitely overhead squats, front squats, some really dire attempts at Cossack squats which involved falling on my arse a lot (the clubbell is not quite heavy enough to work as a counterweight), a lot of ninja chops, a profound realization about the relationship between jori swings and "ribbons", some shoulder presses, the invention of the one-legged clubbell swing, accidentally shattering a chocolate bar while trying to use my countertop to improve my front squat form, and the incident of which we shall not speak which left a dent in the ceiling.

I have discovered that I like finding different ways to move, especially ones that involve swinging heavy bits of metal around my head.

After twenty years of avoiding all forms of athletics with fear and loathing, this has come as a great surprise to me.

I am a giant dork. But the one-legged clubbell swing turned out to be a great idea, and I think I'll be experimenting further with that.

It really, really works the strength and stability of the standing leg to get any swing going without falling over.

Just worked out for today at 10pm. I ended up doing my yoga around this time yesterday evening. I have every intention of getting up early and doing it before work, but I'm not conscious enough to remember that when my alarm goes off. Doing it straight after work would be next best, but I can never muster up the enthusiasm.
Why is it so hard to do something I know will make me feel good? I don't understand.
