I would greatly appreciate advice on purchasing and installing SOMETHING TO HIT in my home. I have an unfinished basement with exposed beams, and I could hang something from the underside of my deck.  I would entertain the idea of a free-standing bag hanger or a punching dummy.

If you have any experience with punching bags or punching dummies, I'd love to hear from you.

My therapist is of the opinion that hitting things is a necessary part of my recovery (long-winded explanation of trauma theory and completing the escape redacted).  Also, it seems that it is an upper body exercise I can do without aggravating old injuries.

Well, I completed my goal of at least 45 minutes of yoga, but I'm not entirely pleased with how I did it.

For the second time within the past several weeks, I pissed away a wonderful opportunity to do a long, meaty session - I just couldn't get my head into the right place for it. Couldn't concentrate, let my body go through the motions of two very choppy short sessions, while my head was who-knows-where. It's probably due to the fact that I went out, ran errands, started projects, and then tried to stick in the yoga practice to fill time between other things. I think my yoga brain (a part of my brain I've learned to love and respect very much) is saying, "Whoa, wait, I'M the most important thing you'll do today." So I need to remember that: one these wonderfully wide-open days, the yoga has to come first.

Aside from the usual Saturday errands, The Barbarian and I went to the swing-n-slide. She insisted on being carried most of the way there and most of the way back. While there, I pushed the swing, twirled The Barbarian, lifted The Barbarian up and down onto that weird bouncing thing, and attempted some pull-ups on the monkey bars. It was a lovely day for being outside. Then came back and stood up for the better part of three hours cleaning the kitchen and making pie. Will now flop in bed, kthnxbai. *flops*

An update at my journal!

Warnings for some discussion of diet, though nothing too diet-esque. More a musing on the food needed to fuel exercise.

Also, requests for music to put on my iPod "running" play list.
