muck_a_luck: (Exercise Every Day)
[personal profile] muck_a_luck posting in [community profile] exercise_every_day
Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

I have today off work and just got back from running. It's actually been a week since I last went running! I was sick last Thursday and Friday and visiting my nephew the weekend...

Anyway, same routine as last time: 500 meters run, 250 meters walk, three times for a total of 1,500 meters running and 500 meters walking. Next time, I'll up this - I am just not sure how to best do it with rounds of either 500 or 250 meters. My two thoughts:

  • run 1,000 meters, walk 500 meters, run 1,000 meters

  • run 750 meters, walk 250 meters, run 500 meters, walk 250 meters, run 750 meters

both for a total of 2K running and 500m walking. Anyone here maybe got an opinion?

My morning yoga today was the Heart-Air sequence from Shiva Rea's Daily Energy.

I knew what to expect from [personal profile] muck_a_luck's excellent dvd review, but the actuality was so richer. Yes, they are all backbendy poses, but if, like me, you think "cobra" and "updog" in terms of backbends, you will be very enjoyably surprised! Most of these backbends are the twisty kind. I did some flopping around helplessly at first - "Where is that foot? I know it was there a minute ago!" because it was early, but eventually I got right in to things. (Next time, though, I will follow the suggestion and do the Solar Meditation to loosen things up a bit first.) I didn't do the One-legged Wheel, but boy did I impress myself with pushing up into Wheel at 6:15 in the morning. Wow wow wow.

Morning yoga (toned down a bit), then two hours climbing.

It looks like the possible muscle strain in my left arm is actually rotator cuff crankiness. Which is tedious, but I know how to rehab it. And I'm just going to have to suck it up and do an awful lot of scapula push-ups to fix my winged scapula and get them working properly.

Or maybe I could staple my shoulderblades to my back. That might work! *g*

Walked and have done situps -- yoga later. I did yoga just before bed last night, for the first time in a while, and I've missed how that feels, sinking into bed all relaxed shortly after yoga. Plus, I don't have that much time on a morning. So evening yoga it shall be.
