Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Happy Equinox!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Elliptical machine, stretches, meditation (outside, very nice with the cicadas and early-morning birds.)

I'm hoping to get a walk in this afternoon after work, as exercise-karma-in-the-bank since I'm not sure that I'll get any exercise time in tomorrow! We shall see.

Done yoga and my pushups exhaustion test. Managed sixty in a row!

Running is becoming a much more sporadic thing for me, thanks to the weather. I can't go out when it's too cold, due to medical issues, so running is going to have to become an 'as and when I can' thing. This makes me sad. May be able to join the university gym, though, in which case that might be a solution. We'll see!

Morning yoga, two hours climbing (making progress on some of my projects). Then while I was stretching afterwards, I got my legs properly off the ground in mayurasana! Didn't get my legs straightened, but I was balancing long enough to consider it.

To explain, I do mayurasana arms as a forearm stretch -- which I seriously need after climbing -- and so on a whim I thought I'd have a go at the full form while I was there.

I'm getting to like mayurasana; it looks scary and impossible, but it doesn't require any more strength than another arm balance like bakasana.

(OTOH, it probably helps that I'm pretty flat-chested and therefore don't have to deal with the breast-squishage factor in the pose.)

Hot damn! Good for you! And while it doesn't take arm strength, it takes awesome core strength.

Climbing is amazing for core strength.

(Which is good, because I've never met a sit-up/crunch I liked. Or could do without making my back hate me.)

I am starting over with the 100 pushups program next week. I just don't have the discipline to do it right this week.

today I finished the first day of Level 2 of 30 Day Shred. It didn't kill me as dead as I thought it would! I was really expecting something brutal but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Yay!

2 mile walk later if I can fit it in.

Light Pilates in the morning. Running followed by some yoga at lunch (stretching, upper body work).

Have pull ups at home, tonight.

Two-mile run/walk, followed by crunches and stretches. I've been meaning to add some upper-body strength training, since I've been getting sore shoulders and neck on my longer runs, so today I did 2 sets of 10 bent-over rows with 10 lb dumbbells. Then, when I read [personal profile] muck_a_luck's earlier post about a possible pushup challenge for October, I went and did 25 wall pushups. Bleah. Cannot do a single floor pushup, even from my knees, but wall pushups are doable.

Not bleah! W00t! \o/

Also, have you read this article?

Try countertops next. I know some people who are working their way down the steps of a staircase. You don't have to go from wall pushups to floor pushups in one go.

30 minutes on the bike today. Muscle-wise, I could have gone longer. Skin-wise, though, I decided enough was enough. I'm impatient with this breaking-in of saddles, to say the least.

15 minutes walk, 40 minutes of workout by push mower (never thought I'd get an endorphin kick every time I mow the lawn manually, but it's highly motivating :)), 20 minutes of dance.

Am new! Drifted over here via lifting_heavy_things - howdy! Always good t'have a daily log - gets me off the couch.

Today was 25 clean-and-jerks, 65 lbs. Rotator cuffs hurt a little, but not too bad (knock on wood).
