Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Elliptical machine and stretches. Lots of time this weekend *crosses fingers* to get caught up with the yoga.

Morning yoga, two hours climbing. My fingers were still sore from Tuesday, but I got a new V4, w00t!

What is a V4? [Google gives me many possibilities for this...]

Climbing jargon -- sorry. "V grades" are one of the systems used to rate the difficulty of bouldering problems.

V4 is about the limit of my ability (I once did a V5, but that's it), so succeeding on one is cause for celebration *g*.

Groovy - another new thing learned, today.

Congrats on the climb!

I've always had pretty crappy upper-body strength, and climbing kinda highlights that deficiency.

Been working on it over the last year, so perhaps I should give it another go - see if I enjoy it more.

You can't possibly have less upper-body strength than I did when I started climbing *g*. And for the record, I did my first V4 well before I did my first pull-up.

FWIW, a lot of climbing for me has been about learning movement technique, almost all of which is oriented towards minimizing the work your arms do by using body position/balance/flexibility instead. I babbled about that and other aspects of climbing at great length here.

Drop into [community profile] disobey_gravity if you're interested -- lurkers and the curious are welcome *g*.

Pilates warm up, running, then some yoga to work out the run.

Have Week 2, day 2 of the JV series of the 50-pull up program tonight.

Two mile run/walk followed by crunches and stretches. I felt really good today.

Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours wrestling with the hot water heater, trying to jam shims under it where it's breaking through the floor. Not really exercise, but hard work nonetheless. And today, I will wrestle with it some more.

*waves cheerfully.*

Today's the first day I'm really onboard; I've been waiting for a bike trainer to arrive. It's been *decades* since I rode a bike regularly, and I'm not willing to entrust my shaky, re-learning self, complete with a still-healing ankle, to the roads and drivers around here. So! An hour on the bike today, and twenty minutes of gentle stretches, demi-plies, and releves to specifically push the ankle a little.

Ran about 1.5 miles and played strenuously with the baby (who is 35lbs and much more fun than lifting weights). I wanted to do a longer run, but the baby had other ideas, so. *shrugs*

30 minutes walk/jog, followed by 30 minutes circuit and 30 minutes yoga. Felt like really hard work today, I almost gave up in the middle of my first circuit, so I'm really happy about finding the will to continue. I got a heart rate monitor a couple of weeks ago, and it's proving useful. Yoga is going well, the flexibility is beginning to come back to me.
