Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post!

You know, it seems to me that if one were going to be superstitious about a 13th, Monday the 13th would be MUCH more dreadful than Friday the 13th. What do I care about Freya?

Just sayin.'

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

I hear the reason for the Friday the 13th superstition is Jesus was crucified on a Friday and there were thirteen people at the Last Supper.

Rest day, for values of rest that include hauling around a backpack that I'm pretty sure weighs more than I do. In news related to that and to why I did not check in on Saturday with 'been square dancing', if I knew where to find a microwave anywhere on this campus, I might propose marriage to my rice sock. (Usually the nasty part only lasts a day or two, and this is day three. NOT HAPPY.)

Monday, and back to work after a long lovely vacation *sigh* BUT there was Dr. Who, my elliptical machine, and some nice stretches, so it hasn't been quite as bad as it could have been.

Last week I did w2d1 of c25k, but I didn't want to have it in the middle of the week changing weeks (if that makes sense) so today I redid w2d1.

AND THEN I DID JILLIAN MICHAELS' THIRTY DAY SHRED. OMG. I didn't die, that's all I can say.

I have upper body ST and the 100 pushups program still to do today.

lol I don't feel too tired now, and a little soreness might come out of it, but we'll see. if it's too bad I'll go back to yoga every other day and do 30DS on the other days. I don't think I'm going to have a problem, though.

It's called "active rest"! :P

(You probably know this already, but the theory is that gentle exercise -- bearing in mind that one person's "gentle" is another's "strenuous" -- can speed recovery by encouraging circulation, stretching out the muscles, and so forth.)

Morning yoga, then 108 push-ups racked up over the course of the day. Harder than last time I did this -- either because of my cranky back or just because I've been slacking on the push-ups. I think I might try to make this a regular thing.

Bleah. Yesterday was kooky. I squeezed in bits of yoga and repeated week 1 day 1 of the 100 Pushups modified against the kitchen counter. Feeling cranky after missing a decent dose of exercise! :(
