Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Easing back into a daily exercise routine after a miserable winter down in the Southern hemisphere, I managed 20 min. gentle yoga, wall push ups, and a decent walk (unfortunately truncated by sudden rain).

Morning yoga, shadow yoga class. There were only a few people in the class today, so we got to pair up and do weird shit with pressure points in the feet in paschimottanasana.

And my knees are definitely starting to come off the floor in mayurasana.

(The teacher demonstrated the full form, OMFG. Somehow it's different from seeing it in a picture.)

Oh, me too! Right now, with bent legs, I can get my knees and my head off the floor at the same time for a whole millisecond or two before I faceplant into the mat. But that's way, way further than I ever imagined I'd get with it. It's not a pose I would even have tried if it weren't for this class.

Shadow yoga is very strange stuff; I keep on finding myself doing stuff I'm pretty sure I'm not physically capable of.

[Reading up on Shadow Yoga] Looks interesting and fun.

And... [poking at Internets] it doesn't look like anyone teaches in Texas.

I go to vinyasa classes (with strong Anusara influences) where the teachers encourage us to try out more advanced stuff.

Twenty minutes walk/jog, half-hour circuit and half-hour yoga. Felt really happy with how it all went. Sometimes it's really hard but I feel better for having done it, and sometimes it actually feels good at the time.
