Two and a half miles
Aug. 28th, 2010 12:25 pmMy "long" run this weekend wasn't really very long -- 2.5 miles around the house. From now on, I alternate actual long runs (that extend my mileage by about a mile a week) with shorter "recovery" runs. I didn't really feel like I needed it this week, but I've decided to follow this training schedule (the first one listed, Half Marathon to Finish), so that's what the schedule called for!
I've used Jeff Galloway's training method for all the marathons and half marathons I've run, and I find it really works for me. He emphasizes taking regular walk breaks and gradually increasing mileage until you've reached your goal distance. That way, you build endurance slowly and avoid injury. I'll be ready for the Las Vegas Half Marathon on December 5 right on time!
