Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Swimming. Set out to do exactly one hour, at which point I was at 1,900 meters, so I did the missing 100 for 2km and called it a very successful day :)

Lifting day: squats, bench, weighted pull-ups.

Too much warmup on the squats - couldn't do as many reps as last time on the first set, so I decided to bump the weight up and not do that many reps there instead. Had just increased the weight on bench press and almost got three sets of five. That pretty much fried my arms and I only had one rep for the weighted pull-ups. On the other hand, I still had a rep on weighted pull-ups; I usually only have one or two of those when I'm fresh.

Morning yoga, shadow yoga class - HOLY SHIT I GOT BOTH HANDS ON THE FLOOR IN ANTIKRANTAM.

This is the terrifying shadow version of wheel, where you start in a squat, sweep one hand to the floor behind you, then sort of arch round until both hands are on the floor in wheel, then come round and up on the other side. You can see it starting at 07:30 in the demonstration by Matt Pesendian here.

(I can't do the "going all the way around" bit yet, though -- I do "getting both hands on the floor into wheel, trying to come up the other side, then collapsing onto my shoulders giggling incoherently".)

I am not even near Pesendian's league. But shadow class keeps producing these HOLY SHIT moments when my body moves in ways I'm fairly sure it's not capable of. It's the weird shit.

Did 2 mi with .6 mi warmup/cooldown.

Tomorrow: rest day or stretching or cross-training. Need to give my knees and feet a rest.
