muck_a_luckFirst, this morning I did Denise Austin's Yoga Burn DVD from start to finish. About one hour of vigorous flow yoga.
I am currently walking my daughter to school in the mornings. It struck me yesterday that the walk BACK home could be easily exploited to try running, something I have not had an opportunity to work into my life before because of scheduling issues.
Just back from my run. The route to school is just about half a mile. I stretched a little before, but not a lot, since I did an hour of yoga this morning. Then I ran all-out, as hard as I could, breaking when I couldn't run anymore to walk. And I went a slightly different path than I know the mileage for - I think it was a tad longer, and many more hills. Anyway, even with the walking I'm pretty sure I did it in over 5 miles per hour - 8 minutes total of walk/run.
Definitely did NOT feel inspired to run more today - this morning I thought I would extend the run to 15 minutes if I made it home in less than that, but I definitely felt DONE when I made it to the house. Thinking that if I do this every day, I will just add on a little more when I feel comfortable with the basic run home.
Now, to see how bad the shin splints will be. :D Oh, and time for some cool down stretches.
