smackshackMonday, Dec. 20, I did a 30+ minute walk with a break for some push-ups and crunches on the tennis court next to a nearby elementary school. Unseasonably warm weather makes getting down on the concrete seem not so bad.
Today, the 21st, I part-walked and part-ran 3.5 miles according to my map, and I did it in a smidgen under an hour. It doesn't seem like much, but for me it's an improvement. I worry about pulling or tearing something in a knee or an ankle, though...I feel like I'm working extra hard to make sure I don't work too hard and break myself. (What a drag it is getting old....)
I exercised without the podcasts today, too. I like the podcasts but I like so many of them that I tend to fall behind, and I try to catch up on my walks. Today I just listened to the world.
And it's a damn good thing. The holidays are making drivers crazy. One accident nearly happened right in front of me. At another intersection, a minivan tried to make a left turn too fast, so it screeched towards the curb where I jumped out of the way. Half an hour later a couple of guys on motorcycles brought traffic to an involuntary stop as they raced through the neighborhood setting of car alarms. So it's a good thing I wasn't lost in my own little world.
Be safe out there, people.
