Around and around
Aug. 3rd, 2010 09:31 amFinally got back out there today. There were still some fire trucks on the road, so I decided to walk around the house instead. I have a circular-ish dirt driveway around the house, which is just over a tenth of a mile long. I've measured it in my truck, and 19 laps is just over 2 miles.
I lost the sport watch that I used to use to count splits, so I counted laps the low-tech way: I picked up 19 small pebbles from the driveway to start out with, and dropped one every time I finished a lap. When I was out of pebbles, I was done!
To make things interesting while I was circling the house, I decided to add in a bit of running. I ran for about a minute every other lap. It felt really good! Now I'm all enthused about running again.
After my run/walk, I did 10 minutes of crunches and some yoga stretches.

Date: 2010-08-03 06:36 pm (UTC)I used to sometimes use jellybeans to count laps -- eat one bean after every lap till they're gone. But pebbles are free and always available! One of these days I'll buy another sport watch, but meanwhile this works.
