Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Standard arms and abdominals.
Pressed for time today, so I walked for 1 mile at an average 2.67mph.

I ran. I just came home from work and felt like running (I blame the wonderful weather, my shockinkly great health the past week and a co-worker who talked about running just prior to me driving home) and I did it, for the first time since April. I just looked up my last comment here where I mentioned running and back then I did 500 meters slow running, 250 meters walking, 500 meters of slow running, 250 meters of walking and 250 meters of medium running.

Today I did 1k slow running, 500 meters walking and 1k slow running and I probably could have done another set of that. I am quite shocked. I guess the kickboxing the past few weeks paid off, even if it was irregular.

Went on a bit of a walkabout today. Strolled past Buckingham palace but didn't stop; paused at Westminster Abbey, where I was grifted by old ladies claiming to be gypsies; walked by Whitehall and continued north to Nelson's column, where I took a picture or two, then kept moving, stopping in many small bookshops along the way; found the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at University College London (brilliant -- thank you Rydra!); and returned to the British Museum for Round 2, which was dedicated to the re-opened Japanese exhibit.

So glad you liked it! Isn't it fantastic? I'm especially fond of the rack of electric torches for visitors. Did you find the exhibits down the fire-exit stairs?

It's wonderful! Somehow I missed the torches, but I did see the exhibits lining the fire-exit stairs. On top of one display case there were several stone slabs stacked with packing material between them, and the urge to reach up and stroke one of them was almost irresistible. Almost--it turns out I have a smidgen of will-power after all.

I was fascinated by the special exhibit, too, called "Typecast." It's about the role of eugenics and what I'd call "scientific racism" in the role of early Egyptology, and the problems faced today by people who need to separate the good work from the bad.

The special exhibit must be new since I was last there. Sounds excellent.
