Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (or someone else) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

My hips are killing me this morning, so I'm foregoing the treadmill.

Active recovery: aqua aerobics-type activity with friends (not in a formal class.)

Cool discoveries:
1. I am now able to climb out of the pool using a ladder, not the steps.
2. I am now able to get out of the hydrotherapy pool by hauling myself over the side. It is shallower than the big pool, so I doubt I can do it in the big pool yet.

Spin. This time with the diaper-shorts. Much less bruising.

CrossFit's been closed for a week or so to allow the coaches and athletic types to go compete in the CrossFit Games in sunny CA. Today was my first day back after the layoff, and it was a doozy.

Part 1: Warm up, then run 400m carrying a big wooden box. Run 400m carrying a 45 lb barbell. Run 400m carrying a 35 lb kettlebell.

Part 2, the Clusterfuckening: do a bunch of sets of "clusters" and "game rules" push-ups. Clusters combine a clean-n-jerk movement with a thruster movement (and a thruster combines a front squat with an overhead press). I did my clusters with that 35 lb kettlebell mentioned above. "Game rule" push-ups are push-ups where you lift your hands, coming to a complete rest on the ground before you push off. Here are the sets:

12 - 9 - 6 - 3 - 6 - 9 - 12

The saving grace is that you're allowed to do half the cluster reps on one arm, and half on the other. Balance the odd rep counts between the two arms if you can, otherwise give the extra rep to the weaker arm.

All of which is a long, drawn-out, way of saying OOOOOOUUUUUUCCCCHHHHHH.

A little bit of cycling (to some meeting). (I really need to get some other exercise than cycling ... But I hate the outdoor swimming pool T_T.)
