[personal profile] muck_a_luck posting in [community profile] exercise_every_day
Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Morning yoga, then taking another rest day. I've been attacked by brainweasels, so suspect I may be coming down with a bug or just overtired.

Slept all day and woke up an hour before the gym's closing time (thank you, meds dosage change.) Hurried to the gym.

Weights:
Squat: tried to do some 10kg front squats, since the back squats did really unpleasant things to my upper back. My form with the front squats was sufficiently bad that I just took a broomstick and did some back squats with that, trying to sit back far enough that I wasn't bending forward to get up. Failed. Tried just falling over backwards deliberately to get it out of the way and stop fearing it. Succeeded in falling over, did not succeed in stopping the fear. I think the next step is to find a very low box and squat onto it.

Bench press: 2 sets, 15kg dumbbells for 7 reps and 12.5kg dumbbells for 3 reps.
Rows: 22.5kg, 2 sets, 10 reps.
Standing shoulder press: 10kg dumbbells, 2 sets, 10 reps. My form is fine until I reach the 9th or 10th rep, at which point it abruptly turns into a jerk, not a press.
Stability ball plank: 2 sets, 60 seconds.

I second the good for you. And FWIW, back squat form can be really, really fucking hard, depending on wacky body proportion things like relative torso and femur length. I have long femurs and have really struggled with learning to back squat without leaning way too far forwards and rounding my back in order not to dump myself on my arse.

But. The learning is absolutely worth it, IMHO. I'm getting a lot out of it even though it's always going to be one of my worse lifts.

That Power 90 Cardio Intervals workout they include as a freebie with P90X, because I forgot I had it and wanted to see what it was like.

Not feeling so hot this morning (slept like a baby -- woke up every 2 hours) so I only did abdominals and arms.
