Plans awry

My plans for daily exercise this week went out the window. There was a fire on my mountain on Tuesday and I had to grab my mom and our cats and evacuate. We went to my brother's place, fifteen miles away, and stayed there, watching the news and trying to keep the cats tucked safely away and wondering if we'd have homes to go to when it was over. Between exhaustion, confusion, and worry, all thoughts of going out for a walk disappeared!

Fortunately, the winds were in our favor, and our houses were spared. We came home yesterday and began to settle back in. I went out for a brief walk this morning, up the hill behind the house to check the water tank and then up to my mom's house to see how she was doing. But the air quality is still bad from all the smoke, and the road is busy with fire trucks and water tankers who are still working on maintaining the perimeter and stamping out hot spots. So I'm going to take the rest of the week off, and see how things look on Monday.
