Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

my back is still killing me from the windstorms, and this despite hot baths, muscle relaxants and plenty of motrin, so I'm doing a truncated workout.

1 mile on the treadmill @ 2.4 mph.

Can't remember Saturday (busybusy), but Sunday ended up with 1.5 hours of walking and about 6 hours of yardwork (very tired today).

Traveled and had no internet since Thursday night, so here's a check-in for since then.

Friday: Went to airport, walked up as many stairs as possible, walked up escalators. Did that thing on the Skyrail between terminals where you balance by shifting your weight instead of holding on to something.

Saturday: Weights in hotel gym.

Sunday: 20 minutes of very confusing elliptical -- it had something called 'intervals' as a program, but after I selected it and fiddled with the settings to increase the incline I couldn't figure out what resistance I was on or whether or not it was changing -- it didn't feel like I was switching between something hard and something easy. Then I did a little weights even though it was supposed to be my off day because there were other people there lifting and apparently there are ways in which I am competitive after all.

Today: More weights. Went to the airport to return home and attempted to go up the down escalator to get to the Skyrail. (I used to love doing that as a kid but have not tried it in years.) Did not quite make it to the top. I'm not sure if this is because it was too many stairs to keep up the necessary speed while weighted down with my bags, or if it was because I had to slow down to get around people who got on it when I was three-quarters of the way up and then couldn't pick up the pace enough again. I was close enough that it felt like I could have made it with no one else around if I wasn't carrying anything though. More balancing while the Skyrail took me to other terminals.

Had to go to an outdoor pool, which was so crowded I couldn't really swim, but I did stay in the water for an hour and moved around as much as possible. Too hot to do anything else.
