[personal profile] muck_a_luck posting in [community profile] exercise_every_day
Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Shovelglove, and possible recumbent biking later.

Also, plank. What a ... very difficult thing.

This is why I recommend YouTube-watching for distraction purposes. Though not anything that will make you laugh; your abs will not appreciate it.

When I can make it more than, I kid you not, five seconds, I'll keep that in mind ...

My sympathies. You might want to try doing it with your hands on a raised surface (like a bench or a counter-top) to start with -- basically, most of the modifications for working up to a push-up will work with plank too.

But, yeah. You see why it's so brutally effective!

No morning yoga (for reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, family stuff), two hours climbing -- relatively low-key but mostly managed to avoid stressing my tweaked tendons. Will try to get some evening yoga in later.

ETA: Wait, nope, going to keel over exhausted instead.

I'm off to curling, 1.5-2 hours worth. Yoga before bed, likely 20min.

Crossfit. 3 rounds of 3 front squats, mostly to practice the form and find a good weight. Lots of people have balance and grip issues with this one.

Then the workout: four rounds for time of 200 m run, 20 push-ups (game rules*), and 10 toes-to-bar (which in my case ended up being leg raises).

* Apparently "game rules" means that when you reach the ground, you have to come to a complete rest for a moment, which you prove by lifting your hands in the air.

If you put your hands out to the side when you're on your belly, I have heard it described as a "splat push-up".
