Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Snow day! \o/

Even though I have the whole day off, I went ahead and did my regular Thursday workout, the long and mellow one, to be a nice counterpoint to the more strenuous ones I did earlier in the week. I also discovered that, even though I have plenty of time to do this long workout on Thursdays, when I go in late, I must be unconsciously fretting about the time. Today, with nothing at all on my agenda, I found myself relaxing much more deeply into the poses. A good thing to keep in mind.

Last night I did 35 min of yoga and since today's a snow day, I did a nice relaxing 60min yoga video. Nice.

20 minutes of 'self-constructed' yoga. I think I like it when I just choose for myself what I want to do at least some of the time. It's not as balanced and well-flowing as a taught set, but I enjoy not having to listen to someone saying stuff in a foreign language.

Today while drinking my morning coffee I thought fuck it, skipped my morning yoga and ran out of the house to catch a train to Sheffield and climb in the Peak District for the first time. It was amazing.

I will probably try to do some evening yoga to unwind myself so I can sleep.

Walked to CrossFit, CrossFitted, walked home. I might have had a burpee breakthrough today, but I'm not sure whether I discovered a technique or a cheat. It's this: never fight gravity unless you have to. After you jump, drop all the way down into squat without a pause. Thrust your legs out fast and get the pushup over with quickly, to spare your core. Pull the legs back in quickly, again to reduce the amount of time you have to spend stabilizing yourself.

Of course this doesn't work if you're already completely shot and out of breath, so maybe I just got lucky tonight. (I mean, it could also be because I've become a bit more fit, but nah. That's just crazy talk!)
