Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Sunday was a 1 1/4 hr walk + 10min pilates. Monday was 25 min of yoga. Today was 20 min of pilates + 10 min of physiotherapy exercises.

And my physiotherapist says I've got tennis elbow. I find it very strange how in certain positions it's PAINFUL, and other's (like most yoga postures), it's perfectly fine. More yoga & pilates in my future I guess.

Has your physio or anyone else mentioned "eccentric loading" as a treatment for tendonitis? It worked wonders for me when I started developing climber's elbow (medial epicondylitis; tennis elbow is lateral epicondylitis).

Nope, but I've just seen her once and now she's off on a course for a couple of weeks. She's into weight training/Crossfit/etc., so she's really into muscle re-training. I'll look it up. Thanks for the tip.

It's the first time I've ever had it, and I've been semi-patiently waiting for it to get better and choosing different things to do. But it's only getting better very slowly, so re-training and adaptation are in my future. I don't want this to ever come back after it goes away.

Belated comment of belatedness

Dave MacLeod (top British climber and sports science geek) just posted a good review of current research:

This is a basic but very solid and effective guide to using eccentric exercises for tendon rehab (aimed at climbers, but may be relevant to you too:

About 30 minutes of yoga - first 10 minutes of a shoulder opening and relaxing sequence and then 20 mnutes of a light backbend sequence.

I joined something called "Dump the Plump" at work and today is Day 1. The goal is to do a 30 minute workout 5 days a week. I don't really have anymore plump to dump honestly, but I guess I could stand to lose 5 lbs. I mostly joined bc I want the extra incentive to exercise though.

Today I've done 15 minutes on my stationary bike so far, and I'll do another 15 or 30 later tonight.

Another Tuesday, another CrossFit class. Today's class was challenging but didn't leave me feeling half-dead, which was nice. Only 1/3 dead. :-) We did lots and lots of kettlebell overhead presses and lots and lots of sprinting. But we did them in 5-minute bursts with a minute to rest between sets, so it was like, "What is this thing you CrossFit-lings call 'rest?' Oh! That feels good! Teach me more...."

Not a lot on Tuesday - a 40 minute walk was the biggest. But I went for my asthma review and had my dosage tweaked a little, so I'm hoping that within a week or so I will be ready to up the amount of exercise I do.
