Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Pilates warmups, yoga+lunges (16 minutes) and then rhythm boxing. Pedometer recorded 5000 or so steps.

Is that the rhythm boxing on the Wii?

Yep. Six minute, "advanced" version. I've just unlocked the 10 minute "super advanced" level, but I'm still struggling on a couple of the advanced patterns, so I won't go up the level just yet.

Coolio - gives me more motivation to break the balance board back out. The rhythm boxing sounds like a lot of fun/work.

I had active recovery (aka yoga) scheduled for today, but some friends invited me to go swimming tomorrow, so I switched and did tomorrow's strength workout today. I feel so rebellious! Also I'm tomato-red and have an amazing endorphin rush. Same workout as Monday. I'm rocking the SHELCs.

And I did a 60-second modified plank (from the knees, my elbows on a bench so my belly doesn't take the weight.) I'm a little worried the plank's too easy: I'm feeling it, but I don't feel completely destroyed or shaking like a leaf, the way my group-mates are describing. I might have to ask my coach if there's anything between a knee plank and a full plank.

Full plank on a higher incline, even all the way up to against a wall.

Morning yoga, shadow yoga class (which was especially brutal today; I think the substitute teacher wanted to wring everything he could out of us before the regular teacher gets back next week).

Some meditation/pranayama earlier. Pilates (reformer-on-the-mat) at lunch. It is very dry here, and I seem to dehydrate everytime I turn around. Meh.

Went home on my lunch and squeezed in 15 minutes on my stationary bike. Glad I did. I tend to have a better, less sleepy afternoon when I do this.

Today's workout was abbreviated, due to spang-y feelings in my shoulder and weird spang-y feelings in my left hamstring. I opted for nearly a half hour of slow, steady, slightly painful stretching instead of weights.

Yoga after work, 30 minutes. I felt so worn out from work before I started, but while I still feel tired, now I'm ready to tackle the evening's tasks.

Went through Yoga Journal's instructional part of their disc 1 step by step series. Things are coming back to me and at the end of almost 3 weeks of doing some (10-60min) or yoga or pilates every day, I starting to loosen up.

On day one I did the triangle pose with the block fully up (right side) and fully up + fingers (left side, past hamstring tear). Day 20 block in on shorter side for the right side and I'm in between fully up and shorter side for the left.

Progress! :)

Started week 2 of my couch-to-5k program with a groovy walk/run thingy. Did crunches and back extensions on my bouncy ball, then front & side planks and a nice stretch to round out the routine.

There's a house on my walking circuit that belongs to a personal trainer, and some evenings I see a long Muay Thai-style heavy bag hanging in the trainer's garage. My brain starts doing roundhouse kick combos and a few minutes later I'll discover I've been running much too fast...

Oops, forgot to post yesterday!

Morning work: Shiva Rea's Solar Meditation, Water, Lunar Meditation.
Evening work: Power Yoga with Bryan Kest, Intermediate Level. His standing poses are killers, but oh, where he puts the Pigeon pose - pure bliss.

20 minutes of pilates, skipping some of the ab work in favor of stretching my calves and back for reasons that don't bear exploration at this juncture.

38 pushups.

Spaced on the checkin, but walked a mile on the treadmill, bumping it up from 3 mph to 4 for thirty seconds every few minutes since I hear that's helpful.

Very good dance class. I sorta overdid it with the arm exercises, though, so I'm tired today.
