Hey, EED community!

Check-in! Have a wonderfuly, healthy and happy day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

These posts are useful when I don't have enough to say to make a full post.

A bit of ab work first thing is all.

Happy Monday! My elliping and stretching for the day is done, and out of the way. It's the benefit of being a morning person.

Impressive--how do you morning people do it? I can't even walk and breathe at the same time in the morning.

I mostly do it by falling asleep in front of my computer at 9 pm, waking myself up when I hit the desktop, and then stumbling off to bed.

Pretty much the same here - by the time I head downstairs to exercise at 5:50 I've already been up, checked my email, fed the cat, and started the coffee. I'm a bundle of morning energy but come eveningtime I sink rapidly into the sunset.

I'm a natural night owl, and I could never survive a schedule like that. It always amazes me that anyone can! And those people are often amazed (or unbelieving) that I can't get to sleep before 2:00 am and can easily stay up until 4:00 am or even dawn (though that's changing as I get older.) The idea of doing anything physical that early, too--it's boggling. I hope the person you're supporting appreciates you very much!

At 9:00 pm I'm just getting ready to party! *g* (Though I don't actually party, anymore. It still feels that way, though! *g*)

Okay, so ...

Morning yoga -- minus the surya namaskara Bs, as I figured my arms probably needed a break.

(My arms felt fine in the morning, but as the day has progressed I've started to sense The Oncoming DOMS.)

Two hours bouldering.

1 hour 15 minutes Iyengar class.

I don't normally climb on the same day as doing a RL yoga class, because it's serious physical overload, but for reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, all my climbing days have had to be shuffled around this week.

Now I'm looking forwards to spending the evening lying in a heap whimpering *g*.

Don't know if it'll be a rest day -- I'll see how I feel when I wake up -- but it'll definitely be a day for things that don't involve my arms in any way *g*.

About 33 minutes of pilates/yoga mix. It's a 40 minute workout video, but the past two days I haven't been able to do the whole thing.

Going to walk this afternoon when it's not so hot, and it's my strength training day, so I have 6 exercises to do.

Yeah, this was really NOT typical for me, and I am paying for it! Especially after yesterday. *g*

But I had to get my climbing in today, and I really didn't want to skip the yoga class.

It takes a very good teacher to motivate me to go to a RL yoga class (anxiety, not liking to go places or deal with groups of unfamiliar people, etc. etc.), and this particular teacher is amazing -- she's the one who got me doing headstands and handstands, which I would never have thought I could do.

It's a 40 minute workout video, but the past two days I haven't been able to do the whole thing.

You might find it helps to alternate it with a different workout video (or other workout activity).

It's often advised as a rule of thumb that you shouldn't work the same muscle groups on consecutive days, at least not in the same ways -- your muscles need a good 24 hours or to repair themselves and get stronger.

Pilates can be pretty serious strength stuff, so even if you're doing this primarily as cardio, you might find that doing something else for a day helps you come back to it "fresher".

Wow, that's so great! I'm glad you found a good teacher, bb. Headstands and handstands, hurrah!

I think I will mix it up tomorrow and Wednesday and not try the pilates again until Thursday. It's an excellent workout, though. :D I really like how it works everything.

I did the 20 minute yoga session again, but today I was up at 6.30 and did it before work for the first time ever. I have been wanting to start the day with yoga, and am thrilled that I finally managed it. I really don't like getting up early, but I'm going to try and do it all week and see if I can keep it up or whether today was a fluke.

I had my first full hour with my trainer after work at the gym. It was actually pretty fun, certainly didn't feel like an hour. I am finding that having someone there to encourage me helps me work harder. Did a mix of weights, abs and cardio intervals. I feel good right now, and am hopeful that I won't be as achy tomorrow as I was last week.
