Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Thank goodness it's Monday! Seriously, when was the last time you spent a whole weekend with a four-year-old. After that, I need a break! Work sounds perfect!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

I'm not going to be able to do much exercise for the next few days/weeks. Because of, well, this (picture of myself with an almost completely bandaged arm). I was bandaged this way in order to keep some mobility in my arm, but it's not great and it kind of hurts to bend my arm because of one of the infected sites. Awesoooome.

Still, I'm going to do some gentle yoga that doesn't involve my arms too much. No pushups because that'd hurt, and no running because I don't want to get all gross with sweat under all these bandages!

I've already done a little yoga for today.

I spent my b-day (Saturday) on my feet--touring a garden, mall shopping--and Sunday recovering. It's amazing how much staying in motion all day (even if it's not vigorous motion) can take out of one. Or maybe just me. *g*

It should be fine -- Mum's a doctor, so she's relentlessly bandaging me and cleaning the wounds and rebandaging me. Heh.

40 minute early morning walk (well, early for me, anyway!)

Morning yoga. Then no Iyengar class because I had medical appointments -- and there's a future scheduling conflict, so I'm going to have to find out where/when else the excellent teacher teaches. WOE.

Instead, I did this (wheee! Kind of fun, and far less gruelling than holding the same position continuously). Then I was inspired to time my elbow plank, which currently stands at 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Then I did assorted push-ups, because I've been slacking on them again, and a bunch of back hyperextensions as this often makes my back happier when it's being cranky.

(Handy tip: you can do hyperextensions at home by lying with an exercise ball under your hips and your feet wedged under something.)

Mild yoga workout this morning (the yoga part of the "Dance the Chakras" dvd) and a nice brisk walk this afternoon. (I usually walk in the dewy early morning; it was really nice not to have wet feet today! And to listen to the late-afternoon birds and critters.)

I highly rec the plank thing; it was pretty entertaining. Especially if you mute the YouTube video and put on your own music instead *g*.

Back hyper-extensions look a lot like Cobra.

Same shape, but without any support from your arms. So the emphasis is purely on strengthening the back muscles, without the deeper stretch you get from Cobra.

I do both, and feel like I get different things out of them.
