Hey, EED community!

Good morning! What have you been up to today?

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

40 minute yoga strength and flexibility workout (mostly sun salutations and assorted backbends). Also, 10 minutes of meditation, because I feel like I've been neglecting that part of my yoga practice. I'm going to really try to meditate at least once a day and am including it here for personal accountability :). After I've seen how it all works out I'll post about it at [community profile] sun_salutation.

Yay, backbends! I hope including meditation goes well.

Since I haven't been enthusiastic about the yoga first thing lately I did my 100 pushups, etc program this morning instead, that certainly woke me up! Just did the same reps as yesterday, didn't move onto the next day yet.
Heading to the gym after work, and will try to fit in some yoga before bed - I never stretch enough at the gym.

Did yoga this morning and pushups just now. About to start tidying/cleaning my room, including moving the furniture around to hoover (visitors soon! including my girlfriend ♥). I'll do another yoga session later, a little before bed, when I'm nice and loose from a whole day's moving around.

Today is ab day!

Some yoga for 10 minutes, focusing on my abs, then an ab aerobic workout for 15 minutes, then about four or five different ways to do crunches and other core strengthening exercises.

Pushups first thing? Eek! No accounting for taste -- I'd rather do yoga. *laughs*

Enjoy the gym/yoga!

Morning yoga, then in the afternoon I did the Shiva Rea 108 push-ups practice.

I BLAME PEER PRESSURE.

Okay, I did knee push-ups for all except the first round, and I had to pause it a fair few times to lie on the mat and whimper, but I survived.

I may never move my arms again.

MUST we post some sort of cautionary nagging about foolhardy herd behavior?

CLEARLY.

But it was kinda fun.

Walking, mostly up and down stairs hauling shit. (Downstairs is much cleaner now.) Pilates.

I felt great today when all indications would be that I'd feel extremely otherwise *g* I'm thanking the yoga/meditation combo.

I have obviously seen too much TV where the cool hero does lots of pushups, because pushups in the morning makes me feel badass!

Oh, hey, I had a question, and wondered if you might know the answer: I noticed that Shiva Rea goes about halfway down in her push-ups, whereas I've always thought push-ups are nose-to-ground.

Is that a yoga thing, or an energy-conserving thing, or just one of those things?

Oh, dear. I confess that I never really looked at how she does her pushups; I do my pushups, well, the way I do pushups, a modified Pilates-style pushup, but from the knees (because, hey, I'm old, and cut myself a little bit of slack.) So my pushups look a lot like these pushups, only FASTER and MORE OF THEM, heehee.

The main thing I find that makes them do-able is keeping the hands under the shoulders, rather than way out to the side, much easier! I thank Ana Caban and the Pilates Intermediate Mat Workout for teaching me many useful things.

Yep, she goes down to about chaturanga height, then back up. So I was wondering if there was a specific reason for that.
