Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.


1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

I was up and moving earlier than usual today, so I had time for a 40 minute Good Morning yoga workout (different from the one I did yesterday.) At some point I may do an introspective post over at [community profile] sun_salutation about the mental benefits of yoga in dealing with stress and tension of everyday life. (Sounds like you did a good job on that yesterday.)

Last night, I touched my toes! And I did it again this morning when I was doing yoga!

Now I'm juuust about to do week three of day two of the pushups program. Off I go.

Oh, aaaand, my armband for my ipod arrived, for easier running. I'm still gonna have to carry my water bottle, but I don't mind that. As long as I have one arm free.

Morning yoga, then I walked to the gym and did squats and deadlifts and dips and overhead presses and good mornings and bench presses.

And I managed to have a shoulder wobble while racking the bench press bar, get one end racked and not the other, end up with it stuck on my chest, and accept a rescue without DYING OF HUMILIATION. Which I'm claiming as a victory *g*.

30 minutes of yoga and 7 minutes of walking/jogging around the yard. Today is only my 13th day smoke free, so my lung function is still horrible, and I get out of breath really easy. BUT I managed to jog for 40 seconds once, and 30 seconds 4-5 times. I'm working my way slowly up to 60 and to do it for longer so I can start C25K.

The bar had a pathetically small amount of weight on it, I hasten to add, so there was no risk of chest-crushing, just the prospect of having to figure out a way of squirming out from underneath it in a very undignified manner ...

Had a really great coincidence with dancing last night... it turned out the teacher was out of town. The substitute instructor did a zumba class instead.... and I *loved* it.

It's partly because of where I grew up/cultural influences.

Anyhow, I will be going back.

I hope so! My lungs are really holding me back, and I really want them to hurry up and work right! But after smoking for almost 20 years, I know it will take time.

Two-mile walk followed by crunches and stretches. I got a late start, but it's been a bit cooler these past few days (80s instead of 90s) and there was a light breeze, so it didn't bother me being out after 10 am. Which is encouraging, because getting up early to exercise seems to be harder for me than actually going out and exercising.

Had a great workout at the gym. Used a barbell for the first time, which made it really obvious that my left side is weaker than my right - just trying to keep the thing straight was a challenge!
