ruricHi, been reading this comm for a while but not got around to saying hello yet. So, um, hi!
I used to be very much fitter than I am now, alas over the last few years things slid a bit. Though I'm still happily active (I walk and garden a lot) and lifting isn't a problem (bags of compost and gravel are heavy and I have to carry them up and down 2 flights of stairs to get to my garden) I'm conscious of the clock ticking ever onwards. *G*
My grand plan at the moment is a quite slow build up (having over-trained and injured myself in the past I'm wary of jumping in with all thrusters set to full).
Initially I'm aiming to walk 3-5 miles a day, plus I'm starting on a "Couch to 5k" programme as I very much want to get back to running regularly (dream tagret - replace the daily walk with a daily run). Most of the "Couch to 5K" programme will take place on the treadmill at the gym (easier to monitor progress) followed by a short weights session.
Luckily my two local gyms also offer a selection of great classes and over the next month or so I'm looking to add Body Balance, Yoga and Pilates into the exercise programme.
I might build in some personal training sessions further down the line (I've worked with trainers in the past and found them very helpful), but since I'm currently job-hunting and watching the cash that will have to wait for a while!
