Thursday, September 15, 2011, Check-In
Sep. 15th, 2011 04:29 amHey, EED community!
Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!
If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.
1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.
2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.
3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.
4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.
5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Date: 2011-09-15 03:10 pm (UTC)Standard arms and abdominals.
Left hip is killing me. After 5 minutes of walking I was still in so much pain I've had to call it a day.

Date: 2011-09-16 02:27 am (UTC)Warm up: 400m run, duck walk, bunny hops, squat jumps, then the usual assortment of lunges, high knees, butt kicks, and high kicks.
Workout #1: 21-15-9-15-21 of: butterfly sit-ups; one-armed strict press, 14kg bell but don't use the handle; jump with high knees.
Workout #2: 4-3-2-1 front squat with kettlebells, try to find max weight. 4 of 16kg x 2; 3 of 20kg x 2; 2 of 24kg x 2; 1 of 32kg x 2...NOT! The 32kg bells made me fall over. Back to 2 squats with 24kg x 2.
There really ought to be something between 24kg and 32kg, but we don't seem to have it.
Workout #3: Hop up on the gymnastic rings and hold the support position as long as possible. I mangaged 30 seconds, then 15, then 10.

Date: 2011-09-16 09:28 am (UTC)I've found that this is a good use for those otherwise-pointless strap-on wrist/ankle weights (and there's bound to be someone who has some stashed in a cupboard somewhere). Get one or two, strap them onto the sides of the kettlebell handle, and you can add a few extra kg.
Chains would be another option. Or you could go all Bodytribe and loop a resistance band round the kettlebell handle, but I am not responsible for any horrific pinging accidents that may result.
