Saturday, January 15, 2011, Check-In
Jan. 15th, 2011 06:21 amHey, EED community!
Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!
If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.
1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.
2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.
3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.
4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.
5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

ETA: And today's Yoga Journal 21-Day Challenge video. I'm clicking with some of the teachers much more than others, so I may dip in and out from now on.

Date: 2011-01-15 11:52 pm (UTC)I did half an hour of yoga, and twenty minutes of weights, then got out the DVDs as planned.
First I tried out Kickbox: Core Cross Train with Patricia Moreno. It's split into four sections, Punches, Core Energizer, Power Kicks and Combinations. I got through all the punches section, and half the Core Energizer before I needed to stop for a breather. Then I did half the Power Kicks section. I LOVE this DVD! It's intense and works up quickly to a fast pace in the second section, yet it's fun at the same time, and Patricia is a really good motivator. It's definitely one I'll be using very regularly.
Then I finally got round to trying Shiva Rea's Trance Dance. As I did it after the kickboxing, I only did the body blessing and the free form dance. I loved that too! I was oddly a little self conscious as I started to dance, but it didn't take long for me to just go with it and let go.
The whole session left me feeling very energized and I had a very productive day afterwards. I'm aiming to do much of the same tomorrow!

Date: 2011-01-16 01:10 am (UTC)I got home soaking wet, so I changed into dry clothes and finished the workout by doing core exercises on a fitness ball that I also bought at Academy this morning, which I used on a nice 4'x8' exercise mat that I also...you get the idea. Turns out using the bouncy ball for exercises is harder than I expected at first, but I hope to get the hang of it before too long. It's the first time I've used such a thing.
