Thursday, November 25, 2010, Check-In

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is your daily check-in post for after the feast! Maybe you can at least walk off the carbohydrate-stupor. Did you know that the turkey only makes you sleepy because the carb-overload clears out your anti-sleepy hormones or whatever? After you eat that much mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese and three types of pie, any large amount of protien would make you sleepy. SALMON would make you sleepy.

Just sayin'. :D

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Hi! Happy Thanksgiving (US)! I don't plan on exercising today. I double-dipped yesterday, and plan to double-dip tomorrow. Been AFK, but very active, so I hope everyone has been doing well.

Walk, 40 minutes, and yoga, 30 minutes. I'm thankful to have a day off for Thanksgiving with no major plans, just a quiet dinner at home!

Or since I'm from the UK, I could just continue with business as usual.

Exercise so far today's just been walking, but I hope I'll get some time for yoga this evening.

Morning yoga.

ONE AND A HALF HOURS VERY FAST WALK ACROSS LONDON IN THE DARK AND FREEZING COLD BECAUSE THE TUBE HAD SHUT DOWN AAAARGH.

In order to get to:

Two and a half hours Intermediate Bouldering Course, which turned out to be one-to-one as I was the only person who'd signed up to this round of the course.

Now I fall down go boom.

Guests gone, kitchen cleaned, quality time with Rodney Yee. One particularly wonderful thing I've discovered about my daily yoga practice - if I have to postpone it until late in the day, I don't spend the day dreading it. Remember my introductory post to this comm, way back whenever it was? Where I said that if I didn't exercise first thing in the morning and get it over with, I'd think of a million excuses to not do it later? My daily practice has changed all that. It's something I do for myself because it gives me great pleasure.

1 hour of yin yoga, liver sequence, which allowed me to function through out this Thanksgiving holiday!
