Monday, December 27, 2010, Check-In

Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Well! Today was my first-ever CrossFit class. Not even a class, really, just the first round of "Elements" designed to prep me for the real classes that start next week. We covered the basic rules of form for squats, rows, push-ups, and pull-ups, then I was run through a mini-class: 200-meter run; 500 meters on the rowing machine, 30 squats, 20 push-ups, and 10 pull-ups (assisted with a nifty rubber band).

I reckon I can't lose. This will either improve my health or it will quickly kill me.

Still working on the OMG RECOVER FROM CHRISTMAS part of things, but I managed my bit of core exercises and even (gasp!) made a spreadsheet so I can track further progress.

Oops, sorry. Wasn't meant to be threaded.

Morning yoga, two and a quarter hours climbing (not very productive, but fun anyway).

My yoga buddy is gone, so it was just me and Rodney today.

This is actually for the 28th, which is rapidly drawing to a close, but I'm guessing that people won't mind too much if the date is slightly off.

We got a Wii for Christmas, and in the Boxing Day sales we got both a WiiFitPlus and the old version of EA Active Sports. I did my second day of working out using WiiFit today, and clocked thirty of its minutes (given that it doesn't count tutorials in exercises and Yoga poses, I actually was going for longer. But still. Started out with balance games (I've tried most of them at least once now), and then did Half Moon, Warrior and Sun Salutation from Yoga. Haven't investigated the pre-set routines yet: possibly should do that soon. And I did a ten minute jog, and finished off with Zazen.

Rather proud of myself really!
