Tuesday, December 7, 2010, Check-In

Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Laundry day. Up and down and up and down and down and up and down and up multiple flights of stairs. And haul crap out of the basement day. (Dad is going to add a shelf to my desk such that I can have the keyboard over my thighs without it being in my lap and such that I can have the monitor, the keyboard, and my shoulders all in parallel. No more cramping my shoulders from leaning forward to reach the keyboard and no more cramping my wrists and neck from having the keyboard in my lap and having to turn my head to see the monitor.) More stairs. Yoga later, probably. Not now. Legs hurt.

ETA: Also some square dancing and a little bit of yoga.

Made a commitment to exercise every day in December and I've wavered a few days already. I think reporting in might help me not wimp out, so you'll see me here more (fingers crossed).

Short crossfit workout then stretching afterwords for 20min. There's a free kettlebell workout tonight that I'm going to try and get to since the crossfit was light this morning.

Dancing again later today. The class on Sunday was great, BTW.

Free weights - more weight added to my bench presses, left out the overhead presses because my back wasn't doing that well, did more reps on the biceps curls and the dumbbell rows. And finally, after 4 sessions at the same weight and 8 reps, I went up to 10 reps on the squats. I don't think I'll ever like doing squats, though.

Tried Shiva Rea's Yoga Trance Dance DVD for the first time. Some parts were really enjoyable, at other times I was shifting between relaxing into it and paying enough attention so I could follow her directions. I want to do it again!

Swimming! Took fewer and shorter breaks between laps. Man it wears you out.

Lots of snow shoveling, and some walking as well.
