Tuesday, September 28, 2010, Check-In

Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Light stretches and walking. Going to try skipping later. I'm in unholy pain from my first workout in years (yesterday).

Seeing trainer again tomorrow. Oh, God. Do not want... but want to stop hurting myself trying to clean the house. So. Yeah.

Yeah, I'll be letting him know that the soreness is a leetle too much. We'll do something about it tomorrow. We're just getting to know each other and most trainers aren't used to dealing with someone quite as disastrously out of shape as I am.

A hot bath with a handful of Epsom salts in it is often helpful for me when I'm aching and/or stiff.

And yeah, what [personal profile] muck_a_luck said. Don't be afraid to back off while your body adjusts.

FWIW, the delayed onset muscle soreness is usually much much worse when you first start a new exercise activity, and then things settle down quite rapidly.

But go easy on yourself tomorrow. Let the trainer know if you're still hurting. It might be a time to work on form and learning new things, rather than pushing yourself to the limit.

Thanks. :) I'll try a bath when there's someone here to help me to get out! XFM (how I refer to my trainer) did a good job not injuring any of my old injuries, I think he just underestimated how out of shape I am. We'll do something else tomorrow. *g* I'm barely two years out from not being able to reliably walk to the bathroom, due to chronic pain. It's been a slow road back.

That's a fucking impressive road, though!
