Monday, November 29, 2010, Check-In

Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post!

Not too shabby, Random Challenge Day exercisers! We had 12 people reporting in! It wasn't a record-breaker, but it was a pretty good day. :) Go us!

On the "extra accountability front," I got a handful of interested responses. I'll post on that shortly and try to see how we should set it up.

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

Back-to-work day *sad*

I'm not sure how well Rodney and I will get along early mornings, so my adjunct plan is early morning stretching or ellipping and Rodney-in-the-afterwork. This morning I did Shiva Rea's "Water" set, and boy, did it feel wonderful. I love the fluidity of it, letting my body move in the way it knows it needs to go, and meditation after. I'm ready for what I know will be a very hectic day.

A half-hour walk in the snow. It's piling up now, and it's so pretty! (And glancing outside, I can see that it's started snowing heavily again, yay.)

Since I sdidn't go running yesterday because of the snow on the ground and the -5°C I got to go out today with snow on the ground and -2°C. Ran two rounds (1000 meters), walked half a round (250 meters) and ran another 1.5 rounds (750 meters).

Morning yoga, some scapular stuff, then a kettlebell and miscellaneous workout later: TGUs, windmills, overhead squats, Cossack squats, and a few Sots presses somewhere along the way.

Got introduced to Sots this weekend. Fun fun!

I just discovered them, courtesy of the Bodytribe folk -- I think it's in Brutal Recess, where they have a combo that goes: kettlebell swing --> squat --> Sots press --> halo, repeat. Cruel and unusual!

I took the weekend off to calm down my cranky back. Did light yoga today, and a nice workout at the gym after work. Couldn't find the 15lb kettlebells, so used 18 pounders and did the same reps. Woo hoo!
