Sunday, October 24, 2010, Check-In

Hey, EED community!

Here is your daily check-in post! Hope everyone is having a great day!

If you are posting for the first time, or new to the community, please review the community's standards, below.

1. Mod (that's me!) will post a Daily Check In post, for those who prefer to note their daily activities in response to a prompt. Please only place exercise comments here.

2. All members are encouraged to post daily independent posts about their activities, if they prefer that to a prompt.

3. Please place any NON-EXERCISE comments in independent update posts and behind a cut. Some people are sensitive to discussion of diet and nutrition. That is integral to many people's exercise activities, so I want members to be able to discuss that, but for those who are here strictly to log exercise, I would like them to be able to avert their eyes.

4. Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves, discuss their exercise goals, and post updates on their activities. "I finally made it to running a mile!" or "I kicked up into handstand today!" are updates that we all want to hear about and share! Please put long posts and entries involving diet and nutrition behind a cut, though.

5. Aside from intro posts and injury announcements, please try to include an exercise update in every post.

STOMACH FLU. *grumps*

I will be spending a strenuous day lying in a heap feeling sorry for myself. Possibly there will be more vomiting.

I finally have something to contribute!! After weeks and weeks of being too exhausted, I've finally started something of a routine again (NB: Never catch whooping cough). I walked the neighborhood loop twice this morning with a friend. Yesterday, I made only 1 1/2 of the loop.

Sunday isn't pencilled in as a Gym Day in my exercise calendar, but I was feeling a bit grumpy this afternoon so I went in anyway. I ran at 6mph for 20 minutes on the treadmill, which is the longest I've gone at that speed, and jogged/powerwalked for another 20 minutes, plus cycling for 15.

I also did five bicep curls before I felt a bit dizzy and stopped right away, which is the first strength training type thing I've ever done. I'm assuming the dizziness was because I did it at the end of a lengthy (for me) cardio session, and might start with stretching/strength next time.

Forty Days of Yoga - Day 24

A Kundalini workout today (Raviana's Fat Free Yoga) as a break from all the frenetic-paced stuff I've been doing lately. But afterwards, I worked some more on my arm balances, and was able to push up a little higher, and hold a little longer towards Wheel, and balance my feet on my elbows for a tiny bit, headed (eventually, someday) towards Bakasana. I feel as though I've made tremendous progress in just the past two weeks. This Forty Days of Yoga is really empowering.

3 mile walk!

This is the first thing I've had to report in a couple of weeks, sadly - work has been killing me. :(
