Checking in: exercising while sick

Triggers: disease. Nasty filthy little germs. Microbes. Viral outbreak. Plague.

Ok, I'm not seriously sick. Just a head cold. The kind of thing where you know that courtesy demands that you protect friends and coworkers and work-out partners from your filthy presence, but you're not so sick that you can just wallow in bed without going completely stir-crazy.

So for the last few days I've tried to rest up, drink my fluids and so on, but I can't help wanting to go out for walks, do a little kata...just anything to move the blood around, really, and stave off the depression that comes from inactivity and the feeling that if I stop my body will fall instantly into decrepitude. I haven't done any running, or any CrossFitting -- though I suppose there might be some comedy in a badly-timed sneezing fit during a heavy kettlebell snatch -- just walking. Some slo-mo kata (and boy that raises feelings...someday I need to either read or right about the semiotics of motion experienced from inside the body).

And burning, seething resentment at this period of enforced moderation.
